Which Levels of Care Work From Downtown West Palm Beach
Living 20-25 minutes away gives you more choices than someone driving in from another county. Here’s how each level of care fits a downtown resident.
- Medical detox: You stay on campus while a medical team manages withdrawal. Because home is close, a loved one can drop you off easily and stay nearby.
- Residential and intensive inpatient care: You live on campus full time. The short distance makes it easier for family to attend education sessions and approved visits.
- Partial hospitalization (PHP): Structured full-day programming, with on-site housing available at our campus. Ask the care team how PHP would work for you.
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP): A later step-down level of care.
- Aftercare planning: Before you finish, the care team helps you line up support close to home, such as recovery meetings in West Palm Beach.
Adults whose main concern is mental health can receive residential care, PHP or IOP. If you’re living with both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition, the care team treats both together.
Balancing Treatment With Work and Life Downtown
Downtown West Palm Beach is a busy place to live and work, and it’s normal to worry about stepping away from your job. Federal law may protect you. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) gives eligible employees unpaid, job-protected leave for a serious health condition, which can include substance use treatment.
Learn more about FMLA and rehab and keeping your job while you get treatment. Federal privacy rules also protect your substance use treatment records.
Downtown’s restaurants, bars and waterfront events can make drinking feel like part of everyday life. Before you head home, the care team can help you plan for those moments. That might mean having a go-to nonalcoholic drink or an exit plan for parties.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from downtown West Palm Beach to your campus?
It’s about 20-25 minutes by car without heavy traffic. Most drivers take I-95 south to Lantana Road, then head west to 4905 Lantana Rd. in Lake Worth. Rush hour can add time, so plan ahead if you’re coming for admission or a family session.
Is there a drug rehab in downtown West Palm Beach?
Our campus isn’t downtown; it’s in Lake Worth, about 20-25 minutes south. Some people prefer a campus a short drive from home because it offers a quieter place to focus, away from the pace of Clematis Street and the waterfront. It’s still close enough for family to stay involved.
Can I live at home while I’m in treatment?
It depends on your level of care: medical detox and residential treatment mean staying on campus. In PHP, you can stay in on-site housing at our campus, and IOP meets in the community on weekday evenings. Our admissions team can explain which level of care fits your needs and what your daily routine would look like.
Do I need detox before rehab?
Not everyone does. If you’ve been drinking heavily or using opioids or benzodiazepines regularly, stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal that needs medical care, and alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can be dangerous. The care team assesses you when you arrive and recommends whether to start with medical detox.
Can my family visit me?
Yes, with the care team’s approval. Families can also take part in our weekly family education program, onsite or by telehealth. Because downtown West Palm Beach is a short drive from our campus, relatives may find it easy to attend in person and stay connected throughout your treatment.
