Dr. Kessler has been a practicing psychiatrist for over 30 years, is a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a former President of the Western Mass Psychiatric Association, and a former Chief Psychiatrist for the Western Mass VA Healthcare System, where he was, until recently, providing psychiatric care by telehealth in addition he was providing care at NeuroHealth Treatment Centers in Ft. Lauderdale using TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation).
He was educated at Columbia University undergraduate and the University Of Rochester Medical School. He did his Residency at the University of Connecticut and was a Mead-Johnson Fellow in Community Psychiatry. He later taught medical students and residents at the Univ of Connecticut, UMASS, and Tufts medical schools in subjects including Psychotic Disorders, PTSD, and Spiritual and Religious Issues in psychiatry, and the psychopharmacologic treatment of addictions to post-doc psychologists at the VA. He is trained in psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and various psychotherapies. He is married, lives in Boca Raton with his wife, has 2 adult kids and 2 step-kids, and is fortunate to live near their grandchildren in Boca. He is an active runner, swimmer, and picklballer and plays the flute.
